Laman Belakang Healing Cafe
About This Spot
Stepping into Laman Belakang Healing Cafe feels like wandering into a quiet corner of a lively kampung, where time slows down just enough to breathe in the gentle rhythm of everyday life. Tucked beside a narrow canal and shielded by soft greenery, this family restaurant carries a humble warmth that invites guests to linger, chat, and savor moments both simple and sweet.
The atmosphere is unhurried and welcoming, with a soft buzz of conversations blending with the occasional laughter of children. Early evenings cast a gentle glow over the space, where thoughtful touches in decor hint at a subtle, hip spirit without overwhelming the relaxed hometown charm. It’s a place where locals gather after a day’s work or families come together to share familiar tastes in a setting that feels like an extended backyard.
Food here doesn’t shout for attention but rather settles comfortably beside the ambiance—familiar dishes served with heart and an honest nod to kampung flavors. Whether it’s the comforting sizzle of sambal tumis carrying whispers of spice, or the cheerful clink of iced Teh O while chatting over plates of Nasi Goreng Kampung Special, each bite seems to echo quiet stories of home and heritage. Portions are thoughtful, matching the pace of the space: unhurried and content, encouraging a good appetite and fuller conversations.
Laman Belakang’s charm also lies in its human moments—the friendly gestures of staff who help you park your car or patiently explain the day’s menu highlights when favorites run out. Though the kitchen can take its time, this delay feels less like waiting and more like a shared pause, allowing the warm, communal vibe to sink in.
For those who seek a peaceful, unpretentious spot that balances the gentle buzz of a well-loved neighborhood hub with the honest joy of well-crafted local dishes, Laman Belakang Healing Cafe offers a quietly compelling discovery. It’s a place where food, atmosphere, and community fold together naturally, making each visit feel like coming home.

Went to see the beautiful place. It was packed with customers, but one gentleman assisted us in getting our car parked. Food has quite limited menu, but we only Ordered kuey teow Tom yam (as we wanted to eat satay but they were sold out) and it was good. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Nice place to eat for the ambience.

Was thinking trying some place new for dinner tonight but somehow wife wanna go early as kinda hungry thus decided to go early. Reach there about 5.30pm, and surprisingly lot of tables been occupied. Ordered some food to try out and not bad at all with decent price. Nice atmosphere but think if come later the deco with light will be better. Would also suggest to have some local food like Tomyam Seafood Soup, Kamping Soup etc into the menu.

Best to come here in the evening. You get the kampung vibes as you walk along a narrow canal towards the place. It's actually hidden. The food here was good and very, very affordable. Laman Belakang offers a cozy, slightly hipster vibe that perfectly matches its name (“Backyard” in Malay). The real star here is the food – a delightful mix of local favorites with some interesting twists.

Foods were delicious and with appropriate portions. Nice ambience and the upstair surau was worth the visit too (steep climb for kids tho). Best thing was definitely the price. The only cons was the waiting period. Took quite a while for food to arrive. Boleh repeat

Overall my experience eating here was excellent. I ordered 2 dishes from this place. The first one was Nasi Putih Paprik Ayam + Omelette. The Paprik is full of ingredients like cauliflowers, carrots, chillies & fishcakes. It is a little bit spicy but I don't find it burning but rather just nice. The dish is also served with a small bowl of soup (that is not made of intant noodle seasoning for sure!). The second dish was Lempeng with Sambal Tumis. The Lempeng is soft and it is paired with the Sambal tumis. The sambal is not spicy, so, children can eat it as well. Despite the sambal being non-spicy, I find it addictive as the flavour of the anchovies is very rich in this sambal (it's a good thing!) Not only the food is good, the ambience of this place is also beautiful. It is aesthetically pleasing and very suitable for those who loves to take pictures. Also, please be informed that this place also provided surau (musolla) for the must customers. There arealso house cats (owned by the owner) roaming around the place (I only saw three cats). Ouh. The people also took pictures of the cats when I was there :). Do come by the place and taste the goodness! *I forgot to snap the picture of the Nasi Putih Paprik Ayam

It's a hidden place that we found in Kluang. Their Nasi Goreng Kampung Special is really nice. It has the makay wok hey taste. But their tauhu bakar, I find it so so only as their's is soft tauhu not those crispy kind.

Children love the kampung atmosphere which we don't have back home. As tourists, this is the best dining vibe we ever had in Kluang. We visited on a weekend night. Service was surprisingly quite fast and food were delicious. Lempeng and mee soto highly recommended.
